YI-SULPHOTROL is a high molecular weight, modified hydrocarbon compound of sodium asphalt sulfonate that is used for stabilizing shales in water-based drilling fluids, and for inhibiting the dispersion of drilled solids. it is thermally stable up to 500°F (260° C) It plugs and bridges the formation pore spaces and permeable zones to prevent shale hydration and swelling, which helps to stabilize the well bore. API and HPHT fluid loss characteristics are also improved, leading to reduced potential for differential sticking.
YI-SULPHOTROL is partially soluble in water (~70%), the rest of the water-insoluble portion being soluble in oil, which makes an excellent oil-in-water emulsifier when it comes to emulsifying diesel oil into water-based drilling fluid systems
YI-SULPHOTROL performs a wide variety of functions in a drilling fluid. It acts as a high temperature fluid loss control agent and gives thin tough filter cakes.
YI-SULPHOTROL reduces torque and drag, inhibits the sloughing and dispersion of shales and aids in the emulsification of oil. Water dispersible shale inhibitor, aids in stabilizing shale sections, controlling solids dispersion and improving wall cake characteristics.
